I would like to share with you a bit about myself and some of the formal and not-so-formal education and experiences I have acquired over the past few decades.
Getting to know the plants personally, and observing the miraculous living, breathing earth, the cycles and rhythms of the seasons, and the ways in which nature interacts, rebalances, and heals itself have provided some of my greatest and most influential lessons.
I am a graduate of Sage School, studying with Plant Medicine Practitioner and Wellness Coach, Maia Toll, Naturopath and Biomedical Labs Expert, Jill Hoffman, and Acupuncturist and Energetics Diva, Dory Ellen Fish.
I have completed Non-Violent Communication trainings with Peggy Smith of Open Communication.
In 2010, I received a B.S. degree in Biology with concentrations in Biomedical, Botany, and Environmental Toxicology and a minor in Environmental Studies from the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
I have been studying and using herbal medicine, homeopathy, and other forms of alternative healing for over three decades and am a practitioner of yoga and mindfulness meditation. Some of my teachers and herbalist mentors, in addition to those mentioned above, are Deb Soule, Juliette de Bairacli Levy, Hart Brent, Rosemary Gladstar, Sandy Reider, M.D., Susun Weed, Michael Tierra, Lisa Ganora, and more. Reiki Master Sierra Thayer guided me through my Reiki trainings. I am grateful to have been blessed with many fine teachers in my life.
A few years ago, I was introduced to and began studying Ayurveda, which translates as The Science or Knowledge of Life. K.P. Khalsa, Clinical Herbalist and Ayurvedic Practitioner, and Jai Dev Singh, Ayurvedic Practitioner, have embellished my understanding of this method of living and healing.
Recently, I became a student of Aviva Romm, MD, Midwife, and Herbalist, to study Botanical Medicine for Women in more depth.
In addition, for the past six years, I have immersed myself in understanding the potential healing properties of medical marijuana, working directly with people who use it, and perusing and contemplating the scientific literature as it becomes available.
I bring to my practice the wisdom and experiences that one acquires over 50 years. An understanding of our humanness, our strengths and vulnerabilities, bliss and grief, love and loss........
One of my greatest joys is being a Mom to four awesome and unique adult children. I farm and garden organically; instruct courses and workshops on how to grow food way up north during the cold, cold months; play, sing and teach music; and love being outdoors!
